Datameer, Inc., a provider of a big data analytics solution built on Apache Hadoop, recently announced the beta availability of Datameer Analytics Solution (DAS). DAS combines the power of Hadoop with a spreadsheet interface, enabling business users to run analytics against very large data sets, with no programming required.
Datameer is currently conducting its beta program with businesses interested in using DAS to remove the technical barriers of accessing, analyzing and using massive amounts of data. Current participants in the DAS beta program include leaders in security software, financial services, telecommunications and Internet research and digital insights.
“Our Global Threat Intelligence platform requires us to analyze large heterogeneous datasets in a quick and scalable fashion,” said Dr. Sven Krasser, Senior Director of Data Mining Research at McAfee. “To get this accomplished, we leverage Hadoop as a computing platform. One drawback compared to traditional relational data warehouses is that data is not readily accessible to non-technical users. Using Datameer Analytics Solution, we are looking to close this gap and get the most out of our data to derive threat intelligence and protection for our customers.”
DAS is the first Hadoop-based analytics solution that includes data source integration, storage, an analytics engine and visualization. Whereas alternatives require extensive setup, integration, development and training, DAS delivers value quickly and affordably. Datameer’s spreadsheet interface also makes it easy for business users to start gaining insights from the platform immediately upon installation.
Key benefits of DAS include:
